Ty Cymraeg is a Welsh treasure of a tea-house treasure located on
the banks of the Chubut River, Patagonia, steaming with memory and
warmth -- inviting to both the native and the passerby. Equipped
with a tale to tell, its legend and familial history opens itself
to its guests, bathing them in tradition, from the garments of the
waiters to the brick and mortar.
Over 150 years ago Welsh fled the green hills of Wales in search
of freedom. Aboard the ship Mimosa, emigrants sailed toward another
world –taking sail from Liverpool to a New Wales, landing
in Patagonia, particularly in Gaiman – which means “non-sharpened
stone” in Tehuelche.
